What makes the SigenStor different
Most home batteries are a single sealed box that bolts onto your wall. The Sigenergy SigenStor was designed the other way around: a modular, DC-coupled architecture from day one. At its heart is the Sigen Energy Controller — a hybrid inverter with multiple MPPT inputs that efficiently converts DC power from your solar and battery for the home or grid. Around it you stack Sigen Battery modules in 5 kWh or 8 kWh classes, using safe LFP (lithium iron phosphate) chemistry.

Sizing a SigenStor for your NSW home
Step 1 — Single-phase or three-phase?
Most NSW homes are single-phase; larger homes and businesses with ducted air-con, workshops or heavy EV loads are more often three-phase. Your supply affects controller selection, backup design and how much instantaneous power the system can deliver.
Step 2 — Choose the right controller
Key attributes are the PV voltage window, MPPT count and conversion efficiency. The controller supports up to four MPPTs, which helps on the mixed roof orientations common across Sydney, the Central Coast and the Hunter — east/west splits, partial shading and multiple strings.
Step 3 — Size to your “after 3pm” usage

The Sigen Gateway is the component that isolates your home from the grid during an outage and manages your backup circuits. Without it, the system safely shuts down with the grid (as it must) and you get no backup power. With it, the SigenStor can form an islanded micro-grid and keep powering your loads, with near-instant, UPS-like switchover for most circuits.
Whole-home backup
Achievable on some sites, but it isn’t automatically “smart.” You’ll still want to manage large loads like ducted air-con so they don’t drain the battery in a long outage.
Essential-loads backup
Often the best-value design: lights, fridge, internet, key power points and some air-con. Paired with solar blackstart, the system can keep recharging from the sun and ride out extended outages.
The SigenStor’s standout: integrated DC EV charging
This is where the platform genuinely separates itself. The optional Sigen EV DC charging module supports up to 12.5 kW or 25 kW of charging — and discharging — via a CCS2 interface, with a wide operating voltage range and IP66 outdoor protection. Because it pulls DC power directly from your battery and panels, more of your solar goes straight into the car instead of being lost to conversion or exported cheaply.
- Bi-directional isn’t just the charger. V2H / V2G needs an EV that supports the required behaviour — manufacturer compatibility lists change over time.
- Export behaviours need approval. Any grid export via V2X is subject to your NSW network operator (Ausgrid, Endeavour or Essential Energy) and program rules. Plan for it as a capability, not a day-one guarantee.
- The immediate win is simpler: faster, solar-optimised EV charging that keeps more of your generation on-site.
Long-term coverage at a glance
