Newcastle throws up a wider mix of roofs than almost anywhere we work. Federation and post-war homes through Merewether, Hamilton and Adamstown often have brittle terracotta tile and older wiring. Out through Cardiff, Glendale and the Lake Macquarie estates it is mostly Colorbond on newer trusses, where the constraint is switchboard capacity rather than the roof.

Yes, and it is worth asking. Older Newcastle tile becomes brittle and cracks easily under foot if the installer is careless. Our own electricians do the work and we use tile-specific mounting rather than forcing a generic system onto the roof.

It depends on your usage pattern more than your postcode. If you are on a time-of-use tariff and exporting most of your solar during the day, a battery usually stacks up. If you are home during the day on a flat tariff, sometimes it does not — and we will say so.
Yes. A lot of the larger homes around Lake Macquarie and the newer estates are three-phase, and we install and commission three-phase solar and battery systems in-house.
